Buddhist period sculptures from Allahabad Museum will be displayed in the National Museum of South Korea. At present, these sculptures are adorning the Met Museum (New York Metropolitan Museum of Art) in New York, America. From here they are being sent to South Korea for three months.
To introduce the world to the art and philosophy of Buddhist period, India has signed an agreement with America and South Korea through the Ministry of Culture. Seven Buddhist sculptures have been transferred from Allahabad Museum to National Museum Delhi, the nodal agency constituted by the Ministry of Culture. These include seven art remains obtained from the ruins of a stupa of 250 BC i.e. second century AD in Bharhut, Madhya Pradesh.
A few months ago, these artefacts were decorated in the gallery of the exhibition on Buddhism organized by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, America. These stone statues were displayed in the exhibition titled Tree and Serpent: Early Buddhism Art in India, where they were not only seen among more than 2 million works of art by artists and researchers from all over the world, but were also used to understand the Buddhist context. Also considered helpful.
